Barbara Reuer, Ph.D., LPMT, MT-BC

CEO and Founder, MusicWorx Inc.

Dr. Reuer is an internationally recognized and widely published expert in music-for-wellness and music therapy. As founder and CEO of MusicWorx Inc.», her San Diego-based contractual and consulting agency, Dr. Reuer manages a team of therapists serving children with special needs, medical patients, hospice patients , and individuals dealing with substance abuse, lifestyle change, and bereavement. Through the MusicWorx Inc.» international music therapy internship program, Dr. Reuer focuses her professional attention on music therapy program development and job development in San Diego County. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Reuer provides wellness, community-building, stress-management, and pain-management workshops and seminars for health care professionals, educators, and corporate clients all over the world. Dr. Reuer is a past president of the National Association for Music Therapy, later renamed the American Music Therapy Association. In 2000, Dr. Reuer received the American Music Therapy Association national Professional Practice Award. And in 2008, she received the prestigious American Music Therapy Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Annela Flores, MT-BC

Instructor | Board Certified Music Therapist

Annela is a Board-Certified Music Therapist and registered yoga teacher based in San Diego, California. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from the University of the Pacific and completed her clinical internship with MusicWorx, becoming certified in 2016.

Annela specializes in working with adult populations, including those in inpatient medical settings, hospice and palliative care, mental health treatment, Parkinson’s disease communities, and older adult care. She is passionate about helping individuals navigate trauma, aging, and disease through music.

Cassandra Ritchsmeier, MT-BC

Instructor | Board Certified Music Therapist

Cassandra is a Board-Certified Music Therapist with expertise in Neurologic Music Therapy. She specializes in serving populations such as older adults and individuals with Parkinson's disease, particularly in inpatient medical settings. Cassandra is also the medical music therapy program manager at MusicWorx, overseeing programs designed to enhance patient care through music-based therapeutic interventions.

Lindsay Zehren, MT-BC

Instructor | Board Certified Music Therapist

Lindsay received her bachelor’s degree in music education and theater from Saint Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. She taught music at the high school and elementary school levels in Indiana, South Africa, and Jamaica before pursuing her equivalency degree in music therapy from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. She moved to San Diego from Indianapolis to complete her music therapy internship with MusicWorx Inc.» and is thrilled to now be a staff music therapist for MusicWorx as well as the special projects coordinator for Resounding Joy. Lindsay also is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher and certified in healing touch and Reiki. She is passionate about incorporating her knowledge of yoga and energy therapies with music to create a holistic approach to music therapy for her clients and their families.

Paty Sevener, MA, MT-BC

Instructor | Board Certified Music Therapist

Patricia Sevener, MT-BC serves as staff music therapist and older adult specialist for MusicWorx. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology, and master’s degrees in Psychogerontology and Music Therapy, Universidad Autónoma of Madrid. She is a bilingual music therapist from Spain, and works in adult medical settings, older adult care, and mental health.

Cory Cruz Woodrow, MT-BC

Instructor | Board Certified Music Therapist

Cory received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. In Arizona, he facilitated group and individual music therapy sessions for at-risk youth, adults with varying traumatic brain injuries, hospitalized children and individuals on the Autism spectrum.

After graduating, Cory moved back to his hometown of San Diego, California, to begin his music therapy internship with MusicWorx and Resounding Joy. During his internship, he provided music therapy services for a variety of populations at numerous locations such as Camp Pendleton, Naval Medical Center San Diego, Scripps Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program, Scripps La Jolla Memorial Hospital, Rady Children’s Hospital, Belmont Village Senior Living Sabre Springs, and the Sam and Rose Stein Education Center.

Currently, as the Director of Resounding Joy’s Semper Sound program, he facilitates individual and group therapy sessions for active duty military veterans and military families at VA San Diego Healthcare System, VA Aspire Center, and Naval Medical Center San Diego. Cory is grateful to be back in his hometown where he can give back to his community using music!
